Built around the top half
RADU BOGDAN ROBOTIN founded Solsticenode in Albești, in the Dolj region of Romania, to solve a specific problem: the piece that decides an outfit is usually the top, and it is the hardest thing to find. The collection pairs close-fitting knits and ruffled blouses with lace-trimmed midi dresses and one floor-length boat-neck maxi, all cut to sit under a jacket on a working day and hold their own at a table afterwards. Sleeves are the recurring detail — bell, ruffle, poet — because a sleeve is what you see when you reach across a desk or raise a glass. Everything in the range is designed to answer something else in it.
Washed twenty times before approval
A fitted knit only works if the shoulder sits where it should, so we fit each style on three body types and adjust the armhole before a second sample is made. Every knit is then washed twenty times and checked for pilling and stretch recovery, which is why a neckline stays where it was drawn and a sleeve does not lengthen after a season of wear. Seams are overlocked, hems are twin-needled, and nothing scratchy is allowed against the skin. Dresses are lined through the bodice, closed with a concealed zip, and finished with a hook at the top so the back stays where it was sewn.
